Supply Chain Innovation Summit
14th - 15th June| Courtyard Marriott Hotel, Amsterdam
The layout of the event was easy to understand and was a good size to have space but also network with everyone. There were 150 delegates which included 39 speakers. There was a main room which held the morning and afternoon sessions and 4 breakout rooms which held the different tracks through the day.
This event engaged companies from all industries, however mainly automotive and consumer & heavy electronics.
Compared to other events the content presented had a lot less sales pitches and more behind-the-scenes strategies, challenges and processes from companies. This focus on sharing knowledge between the leading companies of each industry gave us insight into the projects and challenges they were facing.
During the networking breaks, everyone was interested in learning from each other and finding solutions to their problems. However, the delegates were not interested in engaging with sales pitches.
Due to the mindset of everyone at the event wanting to learn, there was lots of learnings. Here are some notable ones:
“Every company is hurting when it comes to generating, cleansing and acting on data.”
“Companies can be hesitant to adopt real time sensor visibility because they do not feel comfortable in putting a shining light on the inefficiencies of their supply chain.”
“A trap many companies fall into is trying to experiment with new technologies and think those will make up for the lack of process. Tech will maximise potential where there is an improvement process in place.” “We need to get ready for the hybrid workforce between human and technology (AI, Machine Learning & RPA).”
In conclusion, if you are looking to learn new strategies and discuss ideas with other companies then I would recommend this event to you. However, if you are a service provider looking to pitch your services, I would not recommend this event, instead use this as a thought leadership event to build mindshare and relationships with your potential customers.
