CSCMP Edge USA
18th - 21st September | Gaylord Resort Hotel, Nashville
CSCMP Edge is the world’s leading supply chain association event. It was held at the Gaylord Resort Hotel in Nashville, 18th-21st September. The event layout was very big, with many large rooms for keynote speaking sessions and smaller rooms for sponsored talks, panels and award presentations.
The event brought together 2,700+ attendees, this was a wide range of industries, and a mixture of stakeholders: decision makers, employees, academics, solution providers etc.
There were over 30 rooms and 100 sessions, therefore the content was very varied. I feel there was something for everyone: sustainability, supply chain visibility, risk mitigation, sourcing strategies, inventory planning, emerging trends etc.
A key learning I took away from this event was you need to build a culture that drives employees to work efficiently. One of the ideas shared on this was to decide on a few internal email subject lines to be used on all emails, to clearly tell everyone who receives the email, who it is for and the priority level for the business.
As well as attending, Roambee was shortlisted for the CSCMP Supply Chain Innovation Award. On day 2 our Vice President of Emerging Technologies, Vidya Subramanian, presented how our solution improved the rail supply chain efficiencies for Ineos, a leading chemical company. We are proud to say we were the runners-up of the CSCMP Supply Chain Innovation Award.
There was a drinks reception at the end of every day, which was a great opportunity to network with prospects. Something to note here, if you are thinking about attending an exhibition rather than exhibiting, you need to be tactical with how you spend your time, making sure you take advantage of receptions and identify your target prospects before the event. Without doing this you will struggle to generate much return.
A negative of the event, the floor plan was challenging to understand, and the event had little signage to help. More signage would have improved my experience here.
In conclusion, this is the leading supply chain association event in the world, and an event where you will find all industries coming together to answer questions to common challenges in supply chain. If you are interested in learning and widening your network, then I would recommend this event, however if you are just looking to generate leads, I would not.
